Meranges and the Llac de Malniu

The trip up the Meranges valley, through the village and up the steep road to the Refuge (alt 2,138m) on the famous GR11 walking route is a most beautiful drive in the spring, summer and autumn seasons. From the Refuge, you can take a sturdy walk up a well marked path to a clear, fresh mountain lake, the Llac de Malniu, at the base of the peaks. It is outstandingly beautiful.

On your way down, visit Can Borrell in Meranges, a fine country hotel and restaurant, for lunch. Or stay a night or two in luxury – it is so quiet and peaceful when night falls; you might be one of only a handful of people in the village.
